The Modern Macro Economic History to Rule Them All

This is your one stop shop for modern macroeconomic history, following the major economic powers and events through the last century to paint a vivid, complex picture of the evolution of global economic governance. While the focus here is on the different powers that were ascendant during these decades - the UK and then the US, along with later attention to Europe and China - Daunton does spend time examining how those choices impacted and were influenced by middle powers and the Global South. This book also nicely contextualizes those macroeconomic policy choices by providing details on domestic political developments, and the commentary on well known economists is unflinching. This is a tome, though, so be prepared for a long journey through this space. Highly recommend
