Man Who Tasted Words

This is an enjoyable tour through the biological mechanisms of human sensation, using case studies of rare conditions to illustrate the extremely complex ways we perceive the world. This is often focused on neural mechanisms, but also goes into anatomical and chemical causes and their role in sensing. This book is meant for the general public, and while there's good rigor for the scientific sections but these sections were too short for my liking. Still, if you're looking for an entertaining and insightful read and you're interested in human sensing, this is a great place to start. Highly recommend
