Interesting But Dated Work
3 Sterne
This is a solid but dated review of the evolutionary and social forces that shape parenting in humans. In addition to the scientific findings now being nearly 30 years out of date, the overemphasis on analysis of modern hunter gatherers and the exoticization of non-Western parenting practices is jarring. This book is best when focusing on non-human animals, as well as the historical work on child abandonment in Europe prior to the 1800s. If you're interested in this topic, though, you'd be best off picking up a more modern, updated work
