A Hard-Hitting, Local History
5 Sterne
This is an important examination of the reverberations of King Philip's War throughout New England, focusing on how it influenced peoples and places from its outbreak until today. Listening to part of this book while in Natick was powerful, and the deep research here from across a variety of sources makes it clear how profoundly that conflict influenced the environments that we live in today (Natick itself being a prime example) and how people think about that environment and the past. If you don't live in New England this might be too specific a book for you, but if you're at all interested in North American history it will definitely provide insight into the connection between the colonial era and today. Highly recommend
